Dom Joao is a four star hotel and right on the sandy beach at Alvor, the centre of town is about a ten minute stroll, The sea view rooms have spectacular vistas, and the other rooms look out towards town and the Monchique mountains. There is a circular bar area which has a lounge and has evening entertainment, the restaurant has a good buffet menu and a large selection of breakfast dishes. Half Board is often enjoyed by golfers, and some take advantage of the reasonable supplement for all or part of their stay.
The nearest golf course is Alto, which is just minutes from the hotel, Silves, Pinta and Gramacho are within a 25 minute drive.
