Pinheiros Altos is home to three contrasting loops of nine – Pines, Corks and Olives – and some of The Algarve’s finest greens.

The original 18 holes were designed by American architect Ronald Fream and the additional nine holes, created by Portuguese golf architect George Santana da Silva, opened in 2007.

The Pines Course (Pinheiros) is named for its abundance of pine trees. This loop includes a mix of Fream’s original holes and de Silva’s new ones – with 1,000 pine trees planted to blend the new with old.

The Corks Course (Sobreiros) is the longest of the three loops and is the toughest. Its eighth, a double dogleg 580-yard par five, is regarded as the toughest hole at the resort.

The Olives Course was the original back nine and has remained unchanged since the resort’s signature hole, the island green par three eighth hole, was constructed in 1995.
